Voltex (Pty) Ltd is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of a Lighting Sales Specialist for their Cape Town branch. This incumbent will be reporting to the External Sales Manager. EPPING

Responsibilities of this role will include selling both general and specialized lighting solutions and luminaries to the commercial, retail, light industry and residential project markets. This requires a proven sales record and knowledge of the South African market. The candidate must understand the principals of return on investments, capital paybacks and lumens per Watt efficiencies . A knowledge of energy consumption calculations on old and new lighting technologies will be advantageous. In addition to this the person must have the ability to present capital energy saving spend schemes to potential customers.

The key tasks & responsibilities for this position are to:

  • Visit key customers regularly including, Consulting Engineers, Specifiers, Members of the professional construction team, Installation Contractors, and end users
  • Work closely with all branches in the Western Cape to support staff in approaching potential customers in the designated industries
  • Promote the groups proprietary products to these markets
  • Attend to daily quotation enquiries
  • Liaise with management on pricing strategies and commercial offers
  • Liaise with designated suppliers on all technical requirements where required
  • Review and follow-up of orders-on-hand, liaising with internal support team
  • Co-ordinate with Internal support staff on deliveries from suppliers / warehouse to customer
  • Ensure maximum service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain and manage sales and tender or projects register
  • Maintain and manager customer database
  • Review and follow-up of outstanding tenders or orders
  • Monitor monthly performances per market
  • Identify and target new projects / customers
  • Ensure sales targets are met
  • Improve and maintain product knowledge and skills
  • Assist the Western Cape region with upskilling staff on lighting
  • Gather all market information
  • Submit weekly report to management and prepare monthly for One on One discussions
  • Actively establish new markets and customers
  • Grow the regional revenue stream and profitability
  • Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement and penetration

The key educational requirements, experience and qualifications for this position would be:

  • A valid Grade 12 certificate is a MUST
  • Marketing or post matric technical qualification PREFERABLE
  • A minimum of 5 years lighting product sales experience in the target market
  • Experience in specifying and tender market would be advantageous
  • Strong market sales record and knowledge of the South African market
  • Valid driver’s licence essential
  • Strong knowledge of lighting design packages (e.g. Relux) and MS Office
